Low Level Cold Laser Therapy

Picture
At IWC we incorporate a therapeutic treatment that has been approved by the FDA for treating acute and chronic pain into our chiropractic and massage sessions where warranted, and this same treatment is available during laser appointments with Dr Julie and also for self-administered drop-in treatments during our open front desk hours.

Also called cold laser because it has no thermal effect, LLLT can penetrate soft tissue up to three inches and functions by stimulating photochemical reactions in the cells to accelerate the body’s own natural healing process. LLLT uses red and near infrared light targeted at the injury or area of pain resulting in healing from the inside out.

Low-level light therapy (LLLT) treatments are safe for almost everyone and can be used with the assurance that there are no side effects aside from accelerated healing. Out of an abundance of caution, LLLT cold lasers should not be used by anyone with a pacemaker. Because cold laser treatments activate cell growth and activity, body parts with benign cysts/growths should not be treated and people who have cancer should be in remission for at least one year before using cold laser therapy. Because there hasn't yet been peer-reviewed testing of the efficacy and safety of cold laser therapy during pregnancy, we also ask people who are pregnant to pass on this therapy.

Patients report either feeling nothing during their treatment or feeling a slight tingling or warmth under the skin where the laser is applied. Results depend on the type and duration of the condition treatment is sought for and IWC practitioners create a treatment plan to help determine the number of laser visits that are appropriate for various conditions. We see the best results when people are treated at least 3 times per day until their condition is resolved, with at least 1 hour between sessions. We offer cold laser therapy passes for self-administered treatments; each pass is good for 7 days over 3 weeks, with unlimited visits during our open front desk hours on each of those 7 days.

A laser appointment with Dr Julie Rosenblatt or Dr Kay McGowan at IWC is typically 15 minutes long. These appointments are perfect for people who are interested in personalized information about how LLLT works, which protocols are right for them, and for people who need treatment protocols that are best administered by a practitioner.

Many cold laser treatments can be self-administered so we also offer walk-in cold laser therapy during our open front desk hours. Since our front desk hours vary from Monday through Saturday, please call us to verify our current schedule, (206) 842-4219.

The average cold laser protocol takes 3 minutes per treated site, and many people choose to administer 1-3 protocols per session. There is sometimes a wait for an available laser, so each self-administered walk-in cold laser visit can range from 5 - 20 minutes long.

Cold Laser Therapy Testimonial:

"Prior to coming to Integrated Wellness Center for Cold Laser Therapy, I was taking two prescriptions to aid my debilitating arthritis. My pain levels were 8-9, I walked with a cane, and had difficulties climbing stairs. When my doctor wanted to prescribe a third medication, I wanted to look into other options. Having found IWC and the cold laser treatments my pain levels are down to 1-2!! I no longer need a cane to get around and I am able to be medication free!" - Terri F.
